Frequently Asked Question about UUByte WintoUSB Pro

UUByte WintoUSB Pro is one of the best software to create a portable Windows drive so that the user can run Windows OS from it. This will save more money and more convenient if you are travelling a lot. In this post, we will share the most commonly asked question about UUByte WintoUSB Pro.

Question 1: Does WintoUSB Pro Support Non-Certified USB Drive?

Yes. WintoUSB Pro supports both certified and non-certified USB drive, ranging from USB 1.0 to USB 3.1. It is also fully compatible with portable hard drive and SSD. However, we recommend using USB 3.0 or above external drive for better user experience.

Question 2: What Kind of Windows OS WintoUSB Pro Support?

Unlike the built-in Windows to Go Creator, which only supports few limited Windows versions (Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education), UUByte WintoUSB Pro supports all versions of Windows 10/8/8.1/7 OS, including Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise Edition.

Question 3: How Much Time It Takes for Creating a WTG Drive

It is largely dependent on what kind of drive you are using. According to our test, it only takes 8 minutes to complete the task on a portable SSD. 12 minutes for USB drive with USB 3.1 port. For slower USB device, it could take nearly an hour.

Question 4: Registration Error

WintoUSB Pro will communicate with remote server during the registration process in order to verify the input registration code. So make sure network connection is established and VPN/Proxy are turned off. When you received the first registration error, please wait 3-5 seconds and try again.

Question 5: No Receiving Registration Code

Registration code is the same as license key, which is contained in confirmation email after you placed an order successfully. Scroll down the email content and you will find the license key lying down at the bottom.

Question 6: Unable to Boot from WTG USB after Creation

In default, WintoUSB Pro set the boot mode to UEFI+MBR, which works on most of the computers. If the USB is not recognized in Boot Menu and unable to boot Windows OS, please change the Boot Mode to UEFI+GPT in Advanced Setting Options..

Question 7: Image Error! Please select the install.wim file

There are two reasons for this type of error. First, you are importing a non-Windows based ISO file, which does not contain the necessary install.wim file. The other reason is that the Windows ISO file is not mounted or extracted. This mostly happens on an old Windows machine that runs Windows 7 and below versions. If this was the case, you have to unpack the ISO file with file decompressing tool like WinZip, WinRAR. Then locate the install.wim file in sources folder of unpacked ISO folder to UUByte WintoUSB Pro.
